About Us
Hi everyone! meet our instructor, Sukania Gouresan, a qualified professional dancer and dance instructor. She is the Artistic director of Mathangi Naatya, since its inception in 2020. A qualified and creative Bharathanatyam (Indian Classical Dance) dancer, instructor and choreographer. She has 15 years of experience teaching dance to students aged between 3 years to 45 years old and an approved People’s Association Trainer as well as a MOE registered CCA Performing Arts, Indian Dance Instructor. Instructor Sukania is trained in Tanjavur and Vazhuvoor styles of Bharathanatyam. Mathangi Naatya offers grading and certification for students.
Mdm Sukania's achievements
Graduated (had her Arangetram) at Bhaskar's Arts Academy in 2001 under the guidance of her guru - the late Mrs Santha Bhaskar (recipient of the Cultural Medallion Award).
Had performances representing Bhaskar’s Arts Academy (National Arts Council) in Singapore, Malaysia and India.
Performances at venues such as Temples, Community Centres, Art Galleries and Museums.
Experience in teaching Bharathanatyam. Including teaching at government schools, Community Centres and 1-to-1 private sessions. These include talks on Indian Thematic Art as well as workshops on Indian Classical Dance and Indian Culture.
Mathangi Naatya students have performed at various temples for Navarathri for the past few years.
Two of her students won 1st prize in a dance competition organised by Pravasi Express and Hougang Community Centre, 2023.
